Yesterday started off with a bang.  I didn't have the chance to write!  Wow.  First, that 'night', at around 3am or so, Edwin was fidgetty but wouldn't nurse down to sleep again, which is our usual routine when he wakes up at night.  I thought he'd nursed quite enough, so I wouldn't let him back on.  He cried.  I put him in his crib for 10 minutes, hoping he'd play and just enjoy being awake (this stunt never works, of course) and he cried.  Finally, I brought him back to bed.  No change.  Blah.  So in desparation, I went downstairs and got him some soymilk.  He drank it down and fell right to sleep.  So, now we have yet another trick in our arsenal.  I would rather he does that with water though, but we shall see.

Then, I decided not to go in with Michael b/c we'd all lost an hour of sleep.  I figured Edwin would not be terribly happy to be in Syracuse again Friday after being there Wednesday.  (I went Wednesday b/c on Monday we got a new stroller!!!  I wanted to rollerblade w/the stroller 10 miles, which I did.. it was a total blast!)

So we slept in.  I tried to shower w/o him and that failed.  I brought him into the shower with me, and that turned into a bath, which turned into him pooping in the bath again.  So I JUMP out and grab him too.  He climbs up the stool to play in the sink, and almost immediately starts pooping all over the stool.  So, I grab him again, me dripping wet, and drag him into the other room to give him a diaper.  I leave him to play and go try to start cleaning up the poop which is now all over the bathroom.

I ended up not totally finishing the bathroom b/c I was running between Edwin, the bathroom, and the laundry room, and was also starved.  I snarfed down an hard boiled egg and noticed that Edwin was playing with something odd....  oh.. the Vaseline jar.  Ok.  So Edwin was coated in Vaseline (I didn't even know that jar was still in the diaper drawer!!!)  He's getting fast these days!  So, I grabbed the greasy boy and again went into the bathroom, intending to place him in the tub, but I had forgotten that the tub still had some poop left in it.  (Our tub drains slowly, so it's not that easy to clean it all at one time.) So I had to finish clearing the poop out while holding a greased boy.   THEN I placed him in the shower AGAIN, took off all my now-greasy clothes as well as his, and we had our second shower of the morning.

Minutes later, I'm sitting there in the tub, me all greasy, him all greasy (even though we've both been rewashed), and I see water beads all over both him and me.  And he's nursing peacefully, looking like he couldn't be more content.  Just about ready to fall asleep if I'd let him.

We had a wonderful rest-of-the-day, including a walk up the gorge trail in the pouring down rain.  How lovely!  We even got to see Auntie Robyn and go for Gimme! again.
