"He has developed the facility of intent." (Michael, of Edwin).  Yes.  This little boy knows what he wants and can use strategies to get it!  He loves cords and ropes of all sorts.  My laptop has a power cord.  He doesn't care if it carries electricity!!!  So, he crawled over to my little table, began to slide the table slowly back and forth, and finally grabbed the cord when it was finally released from the spot where I'd tucked it in.  Blah.

He has now been denied access and is unhappy.  He'd decided instead to pull books off his shelf.  Fine.  That's what they're for.  He may be hungry, too.  He flails when he's unhappy and bangs his head sometimes.  Poor kid.  But I don't know how much I should chase him versus let him whine.  There is some subtle difference that occurs between the time I let him whine and the time I decide I'm making a beeline for him!  It's a question of whether I think the whine will dye down on its own or if I really need to help him.  Oh well.  Motherhood....
