Quick Edwin stories

A few little vignettes of Edwin:

1) In one of the "snowstorms" here in Philly, I taught Edwin the phrase "Edwin is in the snow-covered car", which for some reason he likes to say. However, he generalizes this phrase in amusing ways. After eating breakfast one morning, he observed "grits-covered shirt".

2) We often dress Edwin and Zachary in similar outfits. One morning Edwin expressed this fact by saying "Edwin is wearing Zachary's shirt".

3) While in NYC visiting Carolyn, we stopped at a restaurant bathroom. After successfully using the potty, Edwin refused (as he sometimes does) to put on his pants. I told him that he wouldn't be allowed to ride the subway if he didn't have pants... The pants went on!

4) Edwin is pretty observant of traffic. He knows "green means go", "red means stop", and "yellow means yield". (To be silly, we have told him that "blue means slow down" due to redshift...) However, when he sees these rules being bent, he says so. For instance, if we are making a left turn and must wait until the light turns red, we'll hear an amused "red means go" from the back seat. He also made a similar observation in NYC because the taxis are somewhat cavalier about traffic signals. So he says "taxi: red means go"!

5) Since Edwin is a bit quirky and sometimes a bit difficult, he got assessed for learning/speech disabilities. When the therapist asked him to build a tower with blocks, he refused, wanting to build a train. Donna told him that if he built a tower instead, he would be rewarded with a jellybean. He build a tower, and quickly too!
